As told by the founder and creative director

DM Archipelago has its roots in 1997, with the establishment of our first family owned opal jewellery maison in the Melbourne Central Business District, a first forum in which we were able to share the sheer resplendence of the Australian Opal with the world. As we have evolved, DM Archipelago has blossomed from a family legacy into a beacon of intentional design — a culmination of artistry where our jewellery both expresses modernity and, pays homage to the originality and brilliance of the Australian Opal, weaving together heritage and innovation. Our pieces are born by the vision of our founder and creative director, Julie Ding, and executed with precision, bringing a bold future to a storied past.

The Australian Opal

If there is a gemstone that captures the richness of Planet Earth to perfection then that stone is the Australian Opal. Its variable chemical and physical properties play off of each other. Different but entirely complementary, bound by the same cement. Its rarity is matched only by its otherworldly beauty, a scarce gem that beckons from the depths of time. Its mesmerising hues echo our own uniqueness, a reflection of bold individuality. Celestial, vibrant, and ever-evolving, each opal is a statement of enduring grace in a fast-moving world.

All opals used by DM Archipelago originate from the mines of Lightning Ridge, Coober Pedy and, the Winton and Quilpie fields of Queensland.

A maison at the vanguard of style

Driven by our Creative Director's trailblazing style and progressive aesthetic vision, the maison's jewellery is positioned at the intersection of high fashion and fine jewellery. Editorially fuelled and disruptive to present norms, each creation offers new ways to wear opals with distinct and uninhibited sensibility.
